Most of the brood frames below are from a colony that did not survive the winter. The previous hive seemed to be under-populated and not sick. I thought keeping them would save the new bees effort in making comb. Apparently, the queen prefers laying eggs in the freshly made comb. I plan on taking a deeper look into the brood to find out WHY the workers are taking eggs up into the flow hive area. The queen excluder can only do so much. Nature will find a way! Not sure if I’ll get honey from this hive this year…
