2023 Fall Beehive Update
We applied our fall (honey friendly) varroa mite treatment and began giving them 2 cups of sugar to one cup of water. Upon opening up the hive that split, the remaining bees are sadly dying out. I’m guessing the replacement queen didn’t survive as I did not see any active brood in the second deep.…
April Beehive Check
The hive is doing well (other than being angry with me). The Queen is present and has been excluded from the top of the hive. The first round of Apiguard varroa mite treatment has been applied.
Taking The Chicks Outside
The chicks have been enjoying their time outside and safely interacting with their kin from their enclosed coop. When they get bigger, they’ll get to join the rest of the flock.
